"The city’s many sacred buildings include - 18th century golden temple of Lord Shiva and the Durga temple of the same era. Across the river Ganga, the 17th century Ram nagar fort is situated which is the home of the maharajas of Benares or Varanasi. People take holy dip in the river Ganga to wash out their sins. This place has a very rich collection of the temples located along side of River Ganga. Varanasi has a great center for learning and civilization for all. What an experience."

“We call varanasi as a holy place for the Hindus but there are muslims too and there is a mosque and a temple still. they are just divided by a wall. this goes to say that there was one religion earlier. You get excellent curd in mud pots - a must drink. Kasi can be visited during October to March. !.”
